Did you know that one of the first written hacks for the iPhone was completed 5 days after its release? It was creased by DVD Jon notorious for various reverse engineering projects (which means getting details of systems one is not supposed to know). He managed to use all the functions on the iPhone but he did not succeed in hacking the phone so that he could get activated with another carrier so he had to remain with AT&A just for a little bit longer. There were many more people that followed suite and have hacked the iPhone since then with different inventions and methods

Iphone Hacks What Types are there

There are many applications now available to hack your phone for various reasons and they can be classed in the good and bad. You have the ones that help you unlock your phone so that you can use another carrier other than AT&T so that if you have a phone that you want to use outside the USA then you can. Also AT&T pricing may seen too extreme for you. Some people don’t mind using AT&T but want to be able to use other third party applications on their phones which are not supported by Apple. You then have the so called bad hack, this is where people try and hack the iPhone and the Apple system so to be able to get the users private details such as password and personal information.

Hacking terminology – Firmware, Jailbreaking, Brick

There are some basic terms you should be familiar with, which you could have already encountered but are not sure about their meaning.

By hacking your phone it can become inoperable this is where the term brick comes from it means that the hardware has become unusable for one reason or another. This can happen if Apple does an update and Apple applies a new program which disables your hacks rendering your iPhone useless. There are hackers which are constantly writing new programs to try and overcome these problems so that you can recover your phone

The firmware is basically the operating system and programming, the basic and in-depth specifics, which are not available to the everyday user. Apple periodically releases updates that fix former bugs and offers new features, and will possibly work on and stop iPhone hacks. Firmware version 1.1.1. is quite famous for rendering many iPhones useless, turning them into bricks, although a fix was released some weeks later.

The operation system and basic software for the iPhone has been designed do that it can easily be modified. Jailbreak is a kind of iPhone hack in where the owner can gain entry to the inside of the phone and change it structure and thus change it, either to unlock the iPhone or install and run third-party applications not approved by Apple.

By: Gloria Gangi

About the Author:

A search in the Internet is enough to find a lot of information concerning the hacking of mobile phones. The main purpose of this article is to familiarize the reader with some widely used terms concerning mobile phone technology and hacking techniques, as well as security measures that one could take to protect the privacy of ones personal data stored in a mobile phone.

It’s really not necessary to be an expert in mobile technology, but to be informed, and thus cautious in order protect oneself from mobile phone fraud. It is crucial for every mobile phone user to know all the possibilities he/she is offered, along with the dangers that technological progress brings. People can learn the fundamentals of some of the most common techniques of mobile phone hacking such as cloning, eavesdropping, bluesnarfing, bluebugging , as well as familiarize themselves with the most “notorious” mobile phone viruses, Cabir and Mabir.A.

Let’s try to give simple answers to basic questions such as:

o	“why are mobile phones inviting targets for hackers?”

There are 2 major reasons. 1st)The mobile phone is always on. Rarely do we deactivate our mobile phones… 2nd) The personal or corporate information stored in a mobile phone.

o	“What is a “clone phone”?”

“Clone phones” are mobile phones that are programmed to charge calls on other people’s mobile phone accounts.

o	“How can your mobile “catch” a virus”

Mobile phone viruses usually spread through Bluetooth or incoming messages.

But what can one do to protect one’s privacy? Further down, the reader can see a simply phrased, comprehensive description of security measures and recommendations. It’s the “users’ tactics” part:

?	Use anti-virus software to monitor for viruses distributed and propagated via mobile devices

?	Disable the Bluetooth interface while not using it

?	Limit “roaming”

?	Review all bills

?	Turn the phone off

If one is not cautious, the hacker can transform a personal mobile into

a handheld broadcast station, this is what a mobile phone holder should always bear in mind and implement.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is an automatic identification method. It relys on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders. But what is RFID method’s connection to mobile phone manufacturing? Mobile phone manufacturers guarantee products that combine their standard handsets with RFID technology. However, this perspective causes public commotion, primarily focused on privacy matters.

www.infosecuritylab.com

By: Matjaz

About the Author:

So, you own a Motorola V3 Razor. If you are doing what I did you are searching various websites to find how how to change it to be what YOU want. You are reading things like “seems”, “flashing”, “flexing”. What the heck?

You’re confused, lost, and ready to pay somebody to do this, or give up. But don’t. I am by no means a computer expert or a modding guru but I have figured it out so that means you can to!

Lets talk about modding and or hacking (changing anything from how it came from the manufacturer) Hack? No Im not taking about anything illegal, but the term is used to express the idea. You “hack” into an area of the phone or Ipod the manufacturer didn’t want you to access

Why mod it at all? Well simple. I paid good money for this and if I want my kids picture as my outer LCD picture then by golly I shall have it! lol..Also there are several menu items locked out by certain carriers which I think is bunk anyway but I digress.. The biggest and most common reason for modding is to unlock the phone.

What is unlocking? Simple. Unlocking allows you to take the AT&T sim card out and put in a T mobile Sim card and use the phone. Sim card? you ask..

If you don’t know what a sim card is you should stop now and go bake cookies…lmao..not really, It is the card under the battery usually that only allows you to use the phone on that cards carrier. CDMA phones do not have these. Like Sprint, Verizon. Yes you can still mod but unlocking isnt possible. You can just reactivate with whatever CDMA carrier you want

Back to modding..

You can personalize your phone (change the outer picture, make it louder, use different fonts, change the look of it all, etc). Also, changing the software on the phone can increase your reception, your volume, the menu speed, and much more.

Ok now your hooked. How do I do it you scream!

Slow down Tonto..This is complicated stuff so read read read….I got my 500 dollar V9 and it took me 4 days to change the outer LCD because I do NOT want a 500 dollar paperweight..Do you?

Other basic terms you should know are..

The Flex:

The flex is the files and branding of the phone. It contains all the carrier specific menus and images, like T-Zones for T-Mobile, or whichever graphic branding and text links your carrier puts in the phone.

The Flash:

The flash is the part we change most often. By now we have several types, but basically, the flash is the software of the phone. When you change the flash, it adjusts features, menus, and more. Also, things like the way your phone handles reception or menu speed are handled by flashes. Flashing your phone will not erase any of your media or settings. Then there’s the seem.

The Seem:

The seem is the individual pieces that make up the operating system on the phone. Every individual feature on your phone (SMS on/off, will the call end when you close the flip, can you access the web from your phone, etc) is all editable by changing a seem. More on that in the seem editing section, but basically seems are what you will change when you want to change one feature at a time.

So what should you do?

Go to the downloads page and get all the required files and softwares. Backup. then get connected. For some reason this is the single most pain in the ass thing to do for some reason. It should be easy but it isn’t. I will do my best to get everything you need in this one place to get you going but feel free to post any questions you have in the forums.
